i'm actually suddenly feeling really tired about all the things going on in my life now. like the endless effort taken to mend a friendship or even a broken heart (not mine btw).

there are days when i really dont feel like talking or even replying any messages or even explaining myself. i know i don't really share out my worries openly to others and most of the time will prefer to keep things to myself. i'm always smiling and happy thus people always take for granted that i'm okay i guess. i do get bothered by work, i do get bothered by things, i do get bothered by my life. i'm a human too btw. and sometimes it's tiring to be happy.

no idea why are their issues somehow becoming my issues too? im no superwoman yo. i have my limitations too. i have my own issues and worries tooo. all the endless debates going on and on with the same old issues is somehow killing my mood. and to make thing worst, boss is not releasing me. :(

and for work i foresee that it's going to get even tougher with a few strong staff leaving. hello extra workload. i am enjoying what i'm doing but sometimes too many things are on-going at the same time and before i can catch my breathe another issues is popping out or another new project is born. it's sad that i'm starting to lost my motivation and momentum for work. i did try but...

i really want to go away and take a break somewhere for a few months, do the things i love to do. and go far away from all the things that are going on.

SEOUL GOOD! cousin want to catch her idol KEY's musical play and since there is SIA sales i dont mind going with her! and so i gotten my ticket at 689$! dirt cheap yo!

queksy is joining us for that weekend that i'm there. heard all her endless raves about korea's club. finally able to checkitout myself!

and now counting down to kimchi land! 24th april! shall stop spending and SAVE. oh yea!

for the past few years i will always invite my residents over to my house for a visit during chinese new year and did it again this year too.

before cny, a few of them are always coming to me telling me that they want to come to my house. so of course i must invite them over this year again if not they will hate me foreveeeeerrrr! hahaha

and they are so happy and excited about the visit. when i came back to work this morning my colleague was telling me how excited everyone was telling her about their visit to my house and about the food they ate over there. and again when they see me, they thank me for inviting them over and preparing the food for them and even say they want to go back again next year. am happy that they are happy. if only everyone of us can be that easily satisfied like them. :)

it's chinese new year eve today and for the past few days my residents are always coming to me asking "am i going home for new year?" "when is my family coming to pick me up?" "i am going home right?"

going home is something that we do everyday and take for granted. sometimes we don't even feel like going home. whereas there are people longing to go home but not able to.

i try not to answer their questions directly because i do not have any answers for them and it's really sad to see their eager faces looking at you waiting for an answer but only to be disappointed.

some of my residents are going home for new year.. but some are not. and it's always very sad to be the one left behind. nobody wants to be left behind. you should see the smile on their faces when they are all dress up waiting to go home. and mind you their smiles are contagious.

nothing beats spending time together as a family and i'm thankful and blessed to have my family here with me for this new year and every new year.

anyhow the two places that he offered.. :D:D

east timor (the world youngest nation) and aceh (a village in indonesia).

east timor - teach english in secondary school, help out in their children program and maybe teaching of simple IT skills.

aceh - help out in their kindergarten and afternoon enrichment classes.

and both places require me to know a bit of bahasa indonesia! wooots! shall start learning it. so egg-citing yo!

in the midst of deciding which place to go to and if everything is oookkaaaaayyy, i'm intending to leave in april? TGPP!!

one word to sum up 2011... boring.

i'm not sure if it's because i cant travel this year thus i'm finding it extremely hard to pass. i love to travel btw and especially going overseas to do volunteer work which im suppose to go again this year. but because of some ban set by my parents i'm grounded for a year. but anyhow, 1 year gone now and hopefully whatever ordeal that i'm going through is over and i can fly fly fly and disappear somewhere and have a good break.

oh 2011 is also filled with weddings for me. lost count of how many i attended and was a bridesmaid for three times. old chinese grandmother tales "you will never get married if you are a bridesmaid for more than three times" how true i dont know but i hope it wont happen to me if not i will just grow old alone with my dog. #foreveralone

but that aside, i'm always very happy excited to attend weddings. especially if it's my best friend's. happy for them to be able to meet and spend the rest of their life with their soul mate. :)

someone came and left... all part of the package i guess..

and a new family member at home.. MY DOG! she is technically not my dog, but my bro's ex and so they broke off. moral of the story, dont ever get a pet especially a dog/ cat when you are dating. kinda unfair to the animal. so now she is staying at my home. it's totally unplanned and very unexpected because mum strongly object to us having a dog at home. she is a clean freak btw she cannot stand the thought of her fur flying around, etc. but guess what is the baby of my family now. everyone even dad is so in love with her. thank her for bringing lots of joy into our life especially mum and dad and a companion to my grandma when one is at home with her.

manged to fulfilled one new year resolution i made (: i'm a volunteer! volunteered with 2 different organisation and still doing and loving it now.

met, have fun and get to know even more awesome friends/ volunteers....

and of course thankful for friends/ families who stayed with me always...

they are indeed the best gifts ever given to me. (:

Happy 2012! All you fabulous people out there.

For those who have yet to embark on fulfilling their goal/ dream. GO FOR IT and stop thinking if you are still unsure and scare. Dont waste time by thinking. Just do it and I bet you will be amazed with what you achieved. You only live once and getting older each year.

For those who are thinking of giving up.. Don't ever do that but press on! Remember all these challenges that you are facing now will not bring you down BUT make you a stronger and better person! So hang in there and you will see your sunshine and rainbow soon.

For those who are lost... I always believe that whatever things that we are going through now will somehow link up with the 'big plan' for you. So try to find meaning in what you are doing, enjoy the process and you will eventually understand and find your way out. BE POSITIVE.

For those who are very happy, positive and contented with everything in their life now... I'm really happy for every good things that's happening in your life now and I think you should go out and spread some joy and love to others. Share your positive experiences with friends, families or even strangers! Encourage and inspire them! Everyone needs someone to support and be there with them. Trust me, it's a joy to give.

so last weekend we helped lawrence for his proposal to his superduperyummy gf sabrina! the plan was held in MBS! so weeks ago, i ke siao told everybody that i managed to get a discounted rate for MBS room and check with them if they are free to spend a night there with me. and since it's during sab's annual leave period naturally she agreed!

so our plan for the day, we (simon, bun, lawrence, jean and daniel) will all meet 3pm at MBS to check out the room first and plan how to decorate. while sabrina will meet us at 5pm after her dance.

1st round of 'surprise' - HER DANCE CANCELLED!! CUI.

so she changed her plan to go church with lawrence. but we need lawrence to check in at MBS so i started pouring out random ideas to stop her from meeting lawrence.

and the groom to be got really nervous with the various 'surprises'...

the need to remind everyone not to reply at the wrong chat group as we were all chatting with the 'victim' at another place. if not confirm CUI!! hahaha

anyway everything went well in the end even though we had a few heart attacks... but most importantly she agreed!!! when everything ended, we sat down together and shared about the various hiccup that happened. had a great time laughing at our silliness. hahaha. (:

no 1.

my name was actually li shiqi but changed it when i made my IC. someone told my dad that my old name was really bad for me and caused me to have really bad temper. thinking back, i was pretty bad in the past. shouting and quarreling with parents and my bro were definitely norm. she told my dad it will be better for me to change the chinese character instead. you know how anal things are for chinese tradition. anyhow i changed it to lee ziqi. no idea did the change of name impact me in anyway but i guess my temper is not as bad as before? and i can safely say im a very patient person tooo?? lol

anyway, at a later part of my life, i got myself a english name chloe because a lot of people can never pronounce my name properly and they pronounce it as zee kee instead of zi qi. so right now my name is lee ziqi chloe. it's so much easier to introduce myself now although there are still people pronouncing chloe as chole or kio or even lorry. CUI

no 2.

i'm actually really shy with strangers but turn into a different person when people i'm comfortable with are around. i'm actually a very loud and crazy person that laugh at the lamest thing. i'm laughter is scary. sometimes i dont feel comfortable going out with people i dont really know because i drag awkward silence during conversation! i'm happy when the other party i'm going out with is someone who loves to talk because most of the time i prefer to listen. :D

i love to sing loudly and shout like crazy in office...... and i think my colleagues secretly hate me for that. oops my colleagues love to ask me "eh you didnt take your medicine today is it?"

no 4.

i spent most of my sunday sleeping on my sofa and watching random drama. and i can spent the whole day there eat, shit, sleep and never even bother to shower. HAHAHA. i avoid going out on sunday because i feel the need to recharge before monday is here again. when my friends asked me out on sunday, i will come out with 101 excuses to reject them unless really bo pian like special event then i will drag my arse out to meet them. so dont ask me out on sunday yea.

i love to read but read lesser now because i'm really addicted to facebook and twitter, constantly checking it and reading it machiam newspaper. first thing when i open my eyes TWITTER FOLLOWED BY FACEBOOK. bought lots of books but lots of them still unread. went to the library and borrow even more books. wtf right i know! wrong choice to get a smartphone.. too big a distraction.

i'm actually really afraid of dogs but i have one at home now and really loving her more and more each day. amazing yea? love overcome all crap!

when i'm quiet and not talking it means i'm either really too tired and not in the mood to entertain or something is bothering me big time and pissing me off. so stop trying to provoke me further.... my work really drain lots of my energy especially after an event (jumping around getting high and talking to people), i will prefer to just sit down alone and not talk anymore.

because i'm always talking, joking and laughing so when i'm quiet my friends will think that it's really weird and make remarks like "EH DONT EMO LEH!" come on! im a human too.. i have my limitations. i cant be hyper all day long.

i love to volunteer and really hope my future other half will be someone who has the same interest as me and of course willing to do it together with me. you really get to see another side of the person when you volunteered. and i'm always happy to see the good side and that everyone is capable of loving a stranger. (: and i'm attracted to caring guys! guys who have a big heart! HAHAHA. i learn that it's important to have comment interest yea! :D sometimes i secretly wish my buddies will join me as well.. it will be really awesome if they can understand the things that i'm really passion about.

celebrated Vivian's birthday at MELT - The World Cafe @ mandarin. one of my favourite place for buffet dinner even though it's really expensive at 98++ per pax. will only go there during special occasion.. too expensive for my pocket on normal days. haha. seafood there is awesome and they are really generous with their oysters, crabs, lobsters, etc. service is good too!

decided to bring her there to celebrate her birthday since she is a fan of seafood too and i have no idea what present to get her. so a nice dinner always works!

pasta is nice too!

and they even give you a complimentary cake when they know that you are celebrating birthday!

2011 is not exactly a good year.. it's filled with heartbreaks and sad news. gfs ended their long time relationship with their 'other half', news of relatives/ friends leaving us. HOW SAD RIGHT? but i think partly because i'm grounded and didnt get to travel at all and that really sucks.. being stuck here and even when you clear your leave there is nowhere to go..

but it's not exactly really bad either because lots of my friends/ buddies tied their knots with their other half. <3 and i got myself a new companion! my little bun :D

anyway i'm really looking forward to 2012 because i know there is going to be some major changes to my current life. like going on a long long voluntary trip something which i'm always thinking about and since i'm still single it's the best time to go :P, no one to worries about except my family of course. i hope i will be able to make the right decisions and go through it all without any regret.

turning 25 in 2012... too old to procrastinate anymore.
meantime enjoy the last bit of 2011.. let it be a fantastic one please. :)

something that i tweeted few weeks back..

a reminder to us again not to take things and people for granted. Always make an effort to care for the people who love you dearly before it's too late.

Brought my resident home earlier to visit her grandma because grandma told me she didn't see her for a long time. And you should see the smile on my resident and grandma's faces when they sees each other. My resident was smiling throughout the journey there when she knows she is going home to visit grandma.

Going home, something that we get to do everyday but not them.

When it's time to leave, my resident refuses to leave the sofa. She thought she is staying for the night. And I don't see her smile anymore. During the visit, grandma was telling me that her grandson did not visit her anymore. He complained that he is busy with work and all. And grandma added on that, but there is public holiday and weekends? I'm sure if he wants he can make some time for me right?

What she said struck a chord in me. We often take things for granted thinking that they will always be there. It's okay if we don't visit now. And we drag and drag till they are gone and we started to regret not spending more time with them. I'm guilty of that too.

I promise I will try to be less lazy and make an effort to catch up more often.

was her bridesmaid for that day as i'm her only single and available buddy in singapore. hahaa!

i stayed over with her at four season the night before her wedding. the bed is OH SO COMFY!! and it was so good that we almost overslept. woke up rush through everything and even inform the groom to come a little bit later. but lucky we manage to finish all preparation on time. HAHAHA.

trying hard to meet one of the goal i set for myself early this year

"Balance work, play, self life- the past 1 year was spent either in office, home or monkeying around with friends/ buddies. Should open up my world to more activities. Must stop the habit of complaining that I'm tired and put off doing things. I should seriously consider signing up for a course, learn a skill (guitar maybe? Saying bout it for a year and again no actions taken!! Bad bad bad!) or even volunteer at the hospice (again something that I have been thinking about for quite awhile, time to send the application.) maybe my driving license? Mum been harping me about this."

and so i signed up as a volunteer at the family service centre near my house but didnt manage to sign up for any course! haha. lazzzzzzzy. anyway joined them for their mentorship program, working with the kids. most wednesday night was spent with them helping them with their studies, playing games with them. it was quite fun working with a different group of people. :)

glad i manage to meet one of my goals for 2011. not that bad, at least i did something! HOHO! it's november now, 2011 is ending soon. i cant wait to welcome 2012 because 2011 is full of heartache and unhappy news at least for me.

and i should start planning for 2012, turning 25 soon. OLD OLD OLD! can't procrastinate anymore.

I was thinking of getting a special gift for GOH for my event. Decided to approach one resident to help as he took up mouth painting recently.

Both of us were quite skeptical at first because I'm not confident if I'm able to guide him well and it is also his first time doing an actual painting. Myself too.. Colleagues were asking "you sure he can?" and I replied "of course!"

Anyhow despite everything I decided to go ahead and try. Doesn't matter if it didn't turn out well but at least we tried.

And glad i press on. end result was awesome. Everyone was praising our sunflower!! :D HAPPY!

Again, It's important for us to look at their abilities and believe that yes they can too!

feeling really miserable now. and it's only 3 days left to my event, why did i choose to do it now when i should be concentrating and focusing on that.

it takes me a lot of courage before i even decided to do that. no wait. i dont event know where did my courage come from. friends are shock when they knew about it.. myself too. and some are happy that i did it. but wtf? i dont know how to describe my feeling now anyway.. and i had no idea why i did what i did. maybe it's bothering me for too long and i just want to know what's going on... what are you thinking. everything happened too sudden and i was not prepared for it. oh well..

Saturday morning was spent at bowling ally with my residents and volunteers from PSA POU club.

No, I didn't play at all but I had lots of fun too. All my time was spent looking at their happy faces when they managed to throw the heavy ball. All their different patterns when they bowled.. Hehe. It was quite an experience for most of them.

It doesn't matter if they didn't manage to hit any pins. What matter most, giving them the chance to try and prove to others that they can too. To always look at their abilities and not disabilities. That they too have the right to be included as part of the community too.

And of course the companies and warm encouragements given by the volunteers play a part too. My residents had lots of fun and they were laughing/ smiling non stop throughout the whole session.

Thank you for showing love to our residents.

Bowling can be really fun too even if you are not playing. Step out of your comfort zone and make a differences in someone's life today.

and now 2011, my 3rd year with them! :)

today marks my 3rd year anniversary with Bishan Home. (this is now officially one of my longest job!) I often thought of moving on to other sector, working with a different group of people but somehow i'm still here. friends are always asking me "when are you moving on? we are waiting for you!" yes it's definitely not easy to leave at least for me, after all my residents are my family now after 3 years with them. do you ever leave your family behind? but of course i know when it's time to go, i have to go. so now i will still continue working hard for them. :)

through my journey with BH, i'm really thankful to meet friends/ volunteers/ partners who are really supportive of what i'm doing and always ready to learn a helping hand whenever i need it. i know i can always count on them. they bring hope not only to my residents but me too. thank you and i trust our friendship will not end here. <3

and of course i have to thank both my bosses for giving me lots of opportunities to perform and nurturing me to become who i am. it's because of you believing in me that i can achieve all i have today. i did so many things that i never knew i'm capable of achieving, i overcome my stage fright to give speeches, you put me in charge of important event and trust that i will not screw up. thank you for always believing in me and you make me believe in myself too.

when the going gets tough... i'm finding it increasingly hard to continue with all the increased responsibilities, things and people that i have to deal with. i'm starting to feel tired of everything that i'm doing and sometimes not giving my best too. guilty. i know it's not a good sign to be feeling this way and again i need to learn to handle and overcome this by myself. i need to find my way back.

working in this industry,i get to see many different sides of human. people who are capable of showering love to a complete stranger, people who are still not willing to accept them as who they are and judge them base on their disability. it hurts to see people reacting strongly to them, avoiding them and even making rude remarks about them.

often i get questions like "why are you doing what you are doing?" "isnt it sad to work with them?"

after working with my residents, i'm more aware of the difficulties faced by them and their families. it's sad that people are still not willing to include them as part of the community, not willing to step into their world to understand them. i'm always hearing stories about the terrible things the people are doing to them like showing disgusted look when they see them. sigh, the world will be a better place to stay in if everyone can be more understanding and tolerance towards one and another.

so everyday i'm telling myself, i want to create more awareness for them. to share my stories with all my volunteers/ friends and hopefully through me and my little stories they are able to see another side of them. but of course i know at the end of the day, it's best for them to come and experience it themselves, to create their own stories.

i have learnt so much from my residents. every moment spent with them is a moment i treasure. they taught me valuable lessons that i can never learn in school. most importantly, they taught me about love and acceptance.

looking at their happy faces every time when they see me makes me happy and that's what keeps me going every day. the warm smile on their faces never fails to make me feel better after a long day at work. and i often caught myself smiling to myself thinking about all my random encounter/ conversation with them. trust me, they are really loveable. :)

Round 2 of food tasting for anniversary and this time round colleague introduced us ThaiPan Restaurant.

The boss is really nice to come down specially to our office with lots of delicious food for us to try! And he is a really nice and patient man, trying his best to answer all 101 questions that we posted for him. Hehe
